What is DPS?
DPS stands for the Department of Public Safety. The Department of Public Safety is a sub-department within GSRP. They are tasked with speed enforcement, commercial vehicle enforcement, pursuit management, and traffic collision investigations. They work in collaboration with each other to provide safety to the public and create a safe environment for every civilian in Georgia.
HEAT UNIT
The Highway Enforcement Division of Aggressive Traffic is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to enforce traffic laws and deter road users from endangering the public. We use our specialized training and expertise to stop fleeing vehicles.
MOTOR UNIT
The motor unit specializes in enforcing Georgia's speed limits and traffic laws. We work cooperatively with other law enforcement agencies to ensure all members of the public are safe when using Georgia's roads.
MCD UNIT
The Motor Compliance Division is tasked with commercial vehicle enforcement, operations, and traffic enforcement and specializes in DUI/DWI incidents.
